"Concerning ESS.

ESS uses a Lysholm- supercharger. This is a type of a screw-charger. The advantages of the screw charger are more boost pressure and therefore more torque at low and mid rpm, because the charger does not need so much rpm for high pressure.

The disadvantage is a lower efficiency. That means the energy used from the compressor is more converted in thermal energy, that means lower boost pressure and higher temperatures with the same energy.

The ASA is from the type of radial charger. This type of charger delivers the air flow analog to the rpm, that means, that it needs more rpm for more boost pressure, so that the boost pressure is increasing with rpm. The disadvantage is therefore at low rpm the boost pressure is very low and therefore low torque. At high speed high boost pressure and high torque

The advantage from the radial charger is, that the efficiency is much better so that less energy is converted into temperature and less fuel consumption.

What for a driver is better depends on the preferences of each of us. That means people who like torque at low rpm, like a Diesel-Engine, should better use a screw charger. People who wants to have more end or highest power, should use the radial charger.

Regarding the adaption of the ECU. If ESS uses the standard MAF you could be sure, that their ECU is on the one hand not be suitable for full load or on the other hand if it was suitable for full load, they waste much power through a too rich feed for the reason not to use the MAF."
