Μήπως όλοι νομίζουμε πως ο 2,5-λιτρος εξακύλινδρος M20 κινητήρας ήταν ο μεγαλύτερος κινητήρας που τοποθετήθηκε στην Σειράς 3 E30; Λάθος! Για την αγορά της Νοτίου Αφρικής η BMW κατασκεύασε την 333i, η οποία εφοδιαζόταν με τον 3,2-λίτρων M30 κινητήρα των 733i και 533i. Δεν πρέπει να σου προκαλεί έκπληξη γιατί η BMW 333i ήταν δημοφιλής στους εθνικούς αγώνες αυτοκινήτων τουρισμού, ενώ εντυπωσιακό ήταν και το γεγονός πως ο ιδιοκτήτης της έπρεπε να επιλέξει ανάμεσα στο υδραυλικό τιμόνι ή στον κλιματισμό, επειδή δεν υπήρχε ο χώρος να χωρέσει τόσο το σύστημα κλιματισμού, όσο και η αντλία του υδραυλικού τιμονιού στον χώρο του κινητήρα.
