The original owner of my 1999 328i had the MKIIIL installed (part number 65909416251) when the car was purchased. I have not come across another unit like this in the US - they did not appear to bring many of these out of Europe...but the original owner somehow talked the dealer into ordering it and installing it on my car.
Mine is identical to the unit that is pictured in the PDF of the Navigation Buyers Guide - I have the BMW Business CD Player (w/HK) and the Nav unit is below.
Just a couple of quick questions:
I noticed in the buyers guide that 'little is known about these units' - I'd be happy to give you whatever info you'd like from my unit if you are curious of anything
Is it upgradable at all...4:3 screen...anything? Yeah, didn't think so.
Is it worth anything? I hardly use it because it is slow (relative to today's technology) and tedious to enter addresses. I take a Garmin unit along with me on any trips, etc. I guess the value is in knowing that I have one of the few in the US...!
