The SMG pump sits very close to the engine and the heat that it produces and being that our cats are integrated into the headers, it's gets pretty hot under the hood. The temp sensor sits right on the front line of all that heat and there's limited airflow where the pump sits during around town type driving. After several thousand miles of being subjected to such heat, I am not doubting that the temp sensor is breaking down and failing. So, you can either replace the sensor which would involve having the system bled with the proper diagnostic tool such as a GT1 (which most of us do not own) or you can do this cheap and easy resistor mod .
