Τεχνολογικό επίτευγμα αποτελεί ο λαμπτήρας LED της Philips ο οποίος θα έχει κατανάλωση μόνο 10w και διάρκεια ζωής 20 έτη. Μπορεί να μοιάζει με έναν κοινό λαμπτήρα, είναι όμως ένα τεράστιο βήμα για την εξοικονόμηση ενέργειας.

Η εταιρεία κάνει προσπάθεια να μειώσει το κόστος του, καθώς είναι σχετικά ακριβός (50 δολάρια).

Μάλιστα συνεργάζεται με εταιρείες ηλεκτροδότησης ώστε οι πελάτες τους να μπορούν να τον αγοράσουν σε τιμές που κυμαίνονται από 20 μέχρι 30 δολάρια.

Και βέβαια αν η τιμή πέσει στα 22 δολάρια, τότε η εταιρεία θα κερδίσει το L Prize του αμερικανικού υπουργείου ενέργειας, που μεταφράζεται σε 10 εκατομμύρια δολάρια!
