BMW Group Takes Top Spot in Automotive Industry Sustainability
lot, if according to a ranking posted today by the SAM Group for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI), which says that the Bavarians are the automotive industry's sector leader when it comes to the sustainability factor.
This means that BMW Group has been able to stay at the top for seven years now, while they are also the the only company in the carmaking business to be listed in this family of indexes every year since it was established in 1999.

We are pleased to be recognised by the renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes," said Dr. Norbert Reithofer, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG. "Being ranked sector leader for the last seven years underscores our corporate strategy and approach. I would like to thank all of our company's 95,000 employees whose day-to-day work makes this progress possible.”
The Bavarians say that sustainability is an integral part of their corporate strategy. The company appointed an environmental officer back in 1973 - the automotive industry's first. In 2009, corporate sustainability was firmly established as a corporate target at Group level.
