BMW at the 81st Geneva Motor Show 2011.
A multitude of unique new developments in the fields of drive systems and intelligent networking of the driver, the vehicle and the environment will be presented by BMW to the public at the Geneva Motor Show from 3rd to 13th of March 2011; all of these contributing to a steady, continuous increase in both vehicle efficiency and driving pleasure.
The leading position in the automobile world occupied by BMW in the development of innovative driver assistance systems and mobility services will be further strengthened at the 2011 Motor Show by the world premiere of an extraordinary concept vehicle. The BMW Vision ConnectedDrive study demonstrates current and future methods of mobile networking in a particularly focused way. The design and technology of this spectacular roadster are aimed at making the vehicle an integral part of a networked world. Comfort, safety and the infotainment experience in the vehicle can be precisely optimised by the innovative functionality, individually tailored to suit the requirements of both the driver and passenger. New technologies and design concepts are employed to add even more facets to the unmistakable BMW driving pleasure.
BMW presents new aspects of its distinctive driving pleasure to the motoring public with the development of concepts for electromobility. In the framework of BMW EfficientDynamics, the purely electric drive has adopted a key role on the road to CO2-free mobility. For the first time, electromobility styled by BMW is on the verge of becoming available to everyone for day-to-day use. The 2011 International Motor Show is the venue for the world premiere of the BMW ActiveE, an emission-free vehicle that offers the sporty feel, so typical of the brand, to up to four people.
BMW has also extended its lead in the field of conventionally-powered production vehicles, with the introduction of efficiency-raising technologies. At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Touring Edition will be presented to the public for the first time. Its four-cylinder diesel engine develops a maximum output of 120 kW/163 bhp and yet consumes only an average of 4.3 litres per 100 kilometres in the EU test cycle (CO2: 114 g/km). In the mid-range premium segment, the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Touring Edition, together with the similarly configured sedan, provide by far the best combination of driving pleasure and economy.
Furthermore, the Geneva Motor Show is also the setting for the world premiere of the new BMW X1 xDrive28i and thus for a new generation of 2.0-litre petrol engines. For the first time in a four-cylinder engine, the drive unit is fitted with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology with a turbocharging system based upon the Twin Scroll principle together with High Precision Injection and the VALVETRONIC fully-variable valve control system. The result convincingly meets the objectives of BMW EfficientDynamics - more driving pleasure at significantly lower consumption and CO2 emissions.
Ένα πολύ ενδιαφέρον πρωτότυπο roadster, με προχωρημένη σχεδίαση, αποκάλυψε η BMW, λίγες μόλις μέρες πριν το επίσημο ντεμπούτο του στην 81η Διεθνή Έκθεση Αυτοκινήτου της Γενεύης.
Ως γνωστόν, η Βαυαρική εταιρεία είναι μια από τις πρωτοπόρους ανά την υφήλιο όσον αφορά στην εξέλιξη και εφαρμογή νέων τεχνολογιών σε μοντέλα ευρείας… κατανάλωσης. Αποδεικνύοντας για μια ακόμα φορά την παραπάνω… φήμη, η BMW ετοιμάζεται να παρουσιάσει στην επερχόμενη Έκθεση της Γενεύης, στις αρχές Μαρτίου, ένα εξαιρετικά ενδιαφέρον πρωτότυπο μοντέλο (και δει roadster!), το Vision ConnectedDrive, το οποίο αποτελεί έναν ακόμα φορέα καινοτομιών (η αρχή έγινε το 2009 με το Vision EfficientDynamics), αλλά και μιας νέες σχεδιαστικής κατεύθυνσης, πολλά στοιχεία της οποίας αναμένεται να δούμε στα μοντέλα παραγωγής της, από το 2013 και εξής.
Σε επίπεδο σχεδίασης –κατΆ αρχήν- το Vision ConnectedDrive προτάσσει μερικά πολύ ενδιαφέροντα νεωτεριστικά γνωρίσματα, διατηρώντας την ίδια στιγμή μερικά άλλα, που χρόνια τώρα αποτελούν το σήμα κατατεθέν των ανοιχτών και όχι μόνο μοντέλων της BMW, όπως είναι για παράδειγμα μακρύ εμπρός καπό. Από εκεί και πέρα, ξεχωριστή εντύπωση προκαλούν τόσο τα μικρά σε μέγεθος εμπρός φώτα, όσο και εκείνα στο πίσω μέρος του αμαξώματος, σχήματος L. Επίσης, χαρακτηριστική είναι η απουσία του εμπρόσθιου «κλασσικού» παρπρίζ, τη θέση του οποίου έχει πάρει ένα μικρότερο, αγωνιστικού τύπου(!), αλλά και η υιοθέτηση θυρών που ανοίγουν κατά τα πρότυπα της θρυλικής Z1 (σ.σ. πράγμα που σημαίνει ότι οι πόρτες «βυθίζονται» προκειμένου να επιτραπεί η είσοδος στο εσωτερικό των δύο αποκλειστικά επιβατών), η οποία παρήχθη σε περιορισμένο αριθμό από το 1989 έως και το 1991.
Την ίδια στιγμή, το Vision ConnectedDrive έχει να παρουσιάσει μια πλειάδα καινοτομιών, άμεσα συνδεδεμένων με την ασφάλεια, την επικοινωνία και –γενικότερα- την πληροφόρηση που λαμβάνει ο οδηγός μέσω των αισθητήρων, των καμερών αλλά και των ποικίλων ηλεκτρονικών συστημάτων του οχήματος. Για παράδειγμα, το νέο πρωτότυπο της BMW είναι εφοδιασμένο με ένα πρωτοεμφανιζόμενο head-up display, το οποίο απεικονίζει σε τρισδιάστατη μορφή τις πληροφορίες του συστήματος πλοήγησης –και όχι μόνο! Η εν λόγω τεχνολογία προσφέρει τη δυνατότητα στον οδηγό να προβάλλει ταυτόχρονα μια πλειάδα στοιχείων και δεδομένων, επιλέγοντας να έχει στο… προσκήνιο του οπτικού του πεδίου τις πιο χρήσιμες για τον ίδιο πληροφορίες (π.χ. την ταχύτητα κίνησης). Επί της ουσίας, λοιπόν, πρόκειται για μια λύση που έρχεται να καταργήσει ό,τι ξέραμε σε σχέση με τη μορφή ενός «παραδοσιακού» πίνακα οργάνων.
Από εκεί και πέρα τώρα, η γερμανική εταιρεία δεν έχει δώσει στη δημοσιότητα περεταίρω στοιχεία που να αφορούν στο μηχανολογικό… ποιόν του Vision ConnectedDrive. Για περισσότερες και ακόμα πιο αναλυτικές πληροφορίες, υπομονή έως την 1η Μαρτίου, οπότε και αναμένεται να πραγματοποιηθεί στη Γενεύη η επίσημη δημόσια πρεμιέρα του νέου και πρωτότυπου –από κάθε σκοπιά- roadster της BMW

ΒΜW Vision ConnectedDrive
Τo ανοιχτό πρωτότυπο Vision ConnectedDrive προλογίζει ένα μελλοντικό κόμπακτ διαστάσεων roadster που ετοιμάζει η BMW με σκοπό να το τοποθετήσει σε κατηγορία, μάλλον, μικρότερη από αυτή της Z4. Έχει διθέσιο εσωτερικό και ταυτόχρονα δείχνει τη νέα σχεδιαστική ταυτότητα που θα ακολουθήσει στο άμεσο μέλλον η γερμανική φίρμα.
Με το πρωτότυπο αυτό η BMW ουσιαστικά μελετά την εξέλιξη νέων τεχνολογιών...
Ενδιαφέρον παρουσιάζει το γεγονός ότι οι δύο πόρτες του σύρονται και εξαφανίζονται μέσα στο αμάξωμα, όπως συνέβαινε και στην ιστορική Ζ1. Από το όνομά του φαίνεται πως ενσωματώνει τις καινοτόμες λύσεις, σε άνεση, ψυχαγωγία, ασφάλεια και καθημερινές εφαρμογές που προσφέρει η εξελισσόμενη τεχνολογική εφαρμογή ConnectDrive της BMW.
