A businessman from Lichtenstein has managed to clock more than one million kilometers in his Maybach 62.
Josef Weikinger is a Lichtenstein businessman and owner of the first European solar glass company (Interfloat) who bought a Maybach 62 back in April 2004. Over the course of about nine years, he drove – or better said was chauffeured – the limousine for no less than one million km. As a matter of fact, the odometer got stuck on 999,999 km (621,370 miles) so he got well beyond the one million mark. It is believed the impressive threshold was hit around September 2009.
It should be mentioned the car's original engine was replaced after 600,000 km (372,822 miles) while a couple of months later the Maybach 62 received a new gearbox and front shocks as well as several repairs to the electrical system.
When time came to replace the car in August 2013, Josef Weikinger wanted to buy another Maybach but the brand was gone so he opted instead for a BMW 760Li. The Maybach 62 was sold and is currently being driven by its second owner.
