The Jaguar XJ220 is a mid-engined supercar produced by Jaguar in collaboration with Tom Walkinshaw Racing as Jaguar Sport between 1992 and 1994. It held the record for the highest top speed of a production car (350 km/h, 217 mph) (although it was modified from standard to achieve this), until the arrival of the McLaren F1 in 1994. The XJ220 is unrelated to other XJ models, despite sharing the "XJ" prefix.

Lots of orders were cancelled after TWR bought out a faster road car. All the cancelled orders forfeited there £50,000 deposit. You could pick a new one up for around £250,000. Not sure if they all sold.

Άλλο ένα αυτοκίνητο που είχε παλιότερα στην κατοχή του ο Σουλτάνος του Brunei θα δημοπρατηθεί, και αυτή τη φορά είναι σίγουρα πιο εντυπωσιακό και σπάνιο.
Έτσι, μετά την Dodge Viper RT/10, αυτή τη φορά μια Jaguar XJ220 του 1994 σε υπεράριστη κατάσταση θα δημοπρατηθεί την επόμενη εβδομάδα, και πιο συγκεκριμένα στις 15 Νοεμβρίου. Δεν είναι σύνηθες φαινόμενο να αλλάζει χέρια το βρετανικό supercar, καθώς η Jaguar κατασκεύασε μόλις 281 αυτοκίνητα.

Η συγκεκριμένη έχει αριθμό σασί 220693 και έχει διανύσει μόλις 5.562 miles (8.951 χλμ) τα περασμένα 20 χρόνια, με την εκτιμώμενη τιμή αγοράς να υπολογίζεται να κυμανθεί στις 200.000 με 220.000 λίρες (€258.000 με €280.000). Από τα παραπάνω χλμ. τα 2.272 έχουν γίνει από την βασιλική οικογένεια του Brunei, με τα υπόλοιπα να είναι του μέχρι πρότινως ιδιοκτήτη που το αγόρασε το 2002. To αυτοκίνητο παρέχει πλήρες ιστορικό των service και βρίσκεται σε εξαιρετική κατάσταση, ενώ είναι βαμμένο στο χαρακτηριστικό British Green χρώμα, με το εσωτερικό του να είναι άσπρο.

Το βρετανικό supercar είχε σχεδιαστεί σε συνεργασία της Jaguar Sport με την Tom Walkinshaw Racing και φορά έναν turbo V6 3,5-λίτρων απόδοσης 550 ίππων με 645 Nm ροπής, ικανά να του επιτρέψουν να κάνει τα 0-100 χλμ/ώρα σε 3,9 δευτερόλεπτα, με την τελική ταχύτητα του να ανέρχεται στα 354 χλμ/ώρα. Για λίγο καιρό ήταν το ταχύτερο αυτοκίνητο του κόσμου, έως ότου τον τίτλο τον πήρε η McLaren F1 το 1994, ενώ επίσης κρατούσε το ρεκόρ του ταχύτερου αυτοκινήτου στο Nurburgring από το 1992 μέχρι το 2000 με χρόνο 7:46:36.

EX-BRUNEI ROYAL FAMILY XJ220 OFFERED AT NEC
A very special 1994 Jaguar XJ220 will be offered in Silverstone Auctions’ sale at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show on the 15th of November, at the NEC, Birmingham.
Chassis no 220693 was hand built by TWR Jaguar in Oxford in 1991 before being exported to Brunei by special order of the Royal Family. The car remained as part of the world renowned car collection until September 2002 travelling just 1,412 miles in their eight year tenure.
The car, estimated at between £200,000 and £220,000, returned to the UK in September 2002 and then became the property of flamboyant champagne dealer before moving on to the current owner.
Commenting on the stunning car, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, Nick Whale, said: “These incredibly rare cars are one of our favourite supercars of all time. This is a fantastic example with a great history and very low mileage. It’s such a stunning design that still looks good nearly 25 years on.”
The car has now covered just less than 6,000 miles and is supported by MoT certificates dating back to 2002. ‘JAZ 220’ has recently had expert work completed by probably the UK’s leading authority on XJ220s, renowned specialists Don Law Racing of Staffordshire. This car has had little use over recent years, which is clear to see from its amazing condition.
Just 281 XJ220s were built over a three year period. With 0-60mph acceleration in a brutal 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 213mph the XJ220 was indisputably the fastest road car on the planet, albeit for a short period of time.
“Having been overlooked these cars are beginning to catch the attention of collectors across the globe and we predict that values will continue to climb over the coming years”, added Nick.
