With the M4, BMW focused on weight savings technologies coupled with the typical BMW design which stands out even more with the first M4 Coupe.
That exterior design of the M4 starts with notably bolder front fascia treatments that include distinctive takes on the signature BMW quad headlamps and black-accented twin-bar kidney grille. Oversize air intakes are part of the lower valence area, along with the BMW Air Curtains. Profile views on the new M4 are enhanced by unique Air Breather vents on the front fenders and muscular wheel arches.
The BMW M4 Coupe has a DIN kerb weight of 1,497 kilograms, thanks to the rigorous application of intelligent lightweight design measures. These include the increased use of lightweight materials such as carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and aluminium for a number of chassis and body components.
Featuring a return to the inline-6 engine format made famous by BMW M, the all-new, 3.0-liter BMW M4 engine is approximately 10 kilograms lighter than its V8 predecessor and packs an even stronger punch. With 425 horsepower from 5,500 – 7,300 rpm, 406 lb-ft of torque from 1,850 – 5,500 rpm, and capable of 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds when equipped with the M-DCT transmission (4.1 seconds with standard 6-speed manual).
